Thank you, Jesus, for a new week. Jesus is wonderful, and I'm so excited to talk more about Him today.
Scripture: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 KJV
I always like it when a Bible verse is straightforward, and to me, John 14:6 is clear. There is no other way to God but through Jesus. That means we can't bypass Jesus or say He doesn't exist and think we can go straight to God. Without Jesus, we wouldn't have a relationship with God or be able to talk to Him. We need a mediator, who is Jesus, to get to God.
God is holy and without sin. We as human beings are born sinners (Romans 5:10). Therefore, God, being Holy and pure, can't look upon sin (Habakkuk 1:13). God wanted to be in a relationship with his creation like he originally intended, the only way to do that was through a mediator, who would be in between God and human beings. Jesus, the son of God, was made the mediator for us by dying on the cross for our sins. It's through his sacrifice and blood that we are made holy and pure before God (1 Timothy 2:5-6).
Now, because of Jesus, we can come boldly before the throne of God and ask Him whatever we like (Hebrews 4:16). This is good news. Because of Jesus, we can have the gift of salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9). By believing in our hearts and confessing with our mouths that Jesus is Lord, we are saved just like that (Romans 10:9). Thank God for Jesus because without Him, we wouldn't have access to our God and enjoy a wonderful relationship with Him. We need Jesus.
I hope this short devotional answered any internal questions you had about Jesus and led you to start a personal relationship with Him.
Prayer: Lord, I believe and confess that you are the Son of God. Come into my heart and use me for your glory. Help me to be like Jesus and honor Him with my life. Amen.
